WASHINGTON, (WDTN-TV) - President Obama proposed a law requiring all kids to stay in school until they graduate or turn 18 during the State of the Union.

Springfield City Schools Superintendent David Estrop attended the State of the Union and called the law a "great goal."

"I think it would be hard to do, but it's proven that without a high school diploma it's hard to get a good job," he said.

The drop out rate in Springfield is about 24 percent.

Right now kids can drop out and 16, but Mr. Obama is asking Individual states to change that.
