Old Indianapolis terminal demolition less costly

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — It's going to cost a lot less than expected to tear down the Indianapolis International Airport's old passenger terminal.
The city's airport authority has approved demolition contracts for the terminal building that has gone unused since the new passenger terminal opened in 2008.
The Indianapolis Business Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1418J8S) that airport officials had budgeted $11 million for the demolition but the contract bids and a contingency fund came to about $5.7 million.
The airport at first planned to take down the old terminal over three years, but officials decided to up the schedule to make the site along Interstate 465 more marketable. The demolition work is expected to be finished by the end of this year.
