ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) — Many elected officials in the area where a 7-mile long, 2,100 acre reservoir on the White River is being proposed about 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis say are at least interested in hearing more about the plan that officials say would be catalyst for new investments and jobs.

Madison County Corporation for Economic Development Director Rob Sparks tells The Herald Bulletin (http://bit.ly/ZNWIOj ) he believes the project has a good chance to succeed if elected officials have the political will. The Mounds Lake Reservoir would cost an estimated $300 million to $350 million to create. Sparks says the next step in the proposal process will be a series of public meetings for each of the affected taxing units. He says the meetings likely will be scheduled within 30 days.
