FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Police say a sniper has killed a man who fatally shot a bus passenger in a northern Indiana city before taking a 3-year-old boy hostage.
Fort Wayne Police Chief Rusty York said Wednesday that 45-year-old Kenneth Knight was killed by a single shot from a sniper.
Police spokeswoman Raquel Foster told The Journal Gazette shortly before that officers had taken the child from the house where he had been held hostage by the man who pulled a 49-year-old woman off a bus and shot her Wednesday morning.
The Allen County Coroner's office identified the woman as Jacqueline Bouvier Hardy of Fort Wayne.
Foster says a protective order had been filed against Knight in the past few days, but she didn't say who requested the order.
