HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) - Huber Heights Board of Education members voted to not cut the Air Force junior ROTC program for the 2012- 2013 school year during a board meeting Thursday.
The program came under fire Saturday when board members claim they received a letter from Air Force officials giving their permission to cut the program if necessary. The program was placed on a reductions list for the 2012- 2013 school year with 22 other programs and/or items as a result.
The ROTC program is funded by both the Air Force and school board, but forced budget cuts on both ends are making it difficult to fund the program that costs approximately $100,000 annually.
Former and current ROTC members spoke during the meeting inorder to express the importance of the program not only for young adults, but for the community as a whole.
Board members stressed this does not mean the program will be safe the following fiscal year.
The following people have recently been booked into Jail. They may not have been convicted of the crimes they are charged with and are innocent until proven guilty.
