Huber Heights plans new water park

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio - Huber Heights is planning on building a 6 million dollar aquatic center on Route 201 near I-70. It will sit on 14.3 acres of land just north of the Greater Dayton YMCA.

The complex will also feature an amphitheatre, tennis courts, dog park, trails and picnic shelters, operated by the YMCA.

"This aquatic center is what the residents have told us they want" said Huber Heights Vice Mayor Roger Hensley.

"But the best part is it's being paid for by existing transportation taxes gleaned from I-70 corridor businesses which means there is no cost to the taxpayers" added Jim Borland, Huber Heights' Interim City manager.

Feasibility studies are expected back in two weeks with groundbreaking anticipated in six to eight weeks.

Completion is expected to be in the summer of 2012.
