SUGARCREEK TWP., Ohio (WDTN) - Three Bellbrook students were killed and three others injured after their pick-up truck slammed into a tree on Wagner Road and Oleva Drive in Sugarcreek Township early Sunday morning.
The three female victims have been identified as 17-year-old Sophie Kerrigan, 16-year-old Skylar Kooken, and 14-year-old Julianna Hawk.
"As I understand they were fine young ladies and good students and we're going to miss them dearly," says Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools Superintendent Keith St. Pierre.
When officials arrived about 12:40 a.m., they found a pick-up truck off the side of the road and wrapped around a tree.
Officers said they found Kerrigan, Kooken, and Hawk dead inside the truck. Two boys and a girl were injured and taken to the hospital.
According to police, all six students were riding in the cab of the pick-up truck. Two boys were riding in the front, and four girls were riding in the back seat.
The two boys were listed in stable condition at the hospital. One of the boys, the driver, has since been released. The girl remains in serious condition.
Police are still investigating what caused the accident.
"At this point it's really early on in the investigation so it's going to take time to sift through all the information that's been collected," says Sgt. Mark White with the Sugarcreek Township Police Department.
The Bellbrook community held a candlelight prayer vigil in front of Bellbrook High School Sunday evening.
