DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Local consumer blogger and smart shopper Bridgett Miller stopped by 2 News Today to offer her tips for finding some back to school bargains.
Miller said shopping for school supplies at large retailers such as Office Max or Office Depot pays off because those stores will offer penny deals or even quarter deals for packs of markers or pens at times. However, Miller suggested waiting several months if shoppers can for electronics, because she believes the better deals will come closer to Black Friday following Thanksgiving.
For lunches, cutting your own veggies instead of prepackaged selections can save you money, said Miller. She suggested buying your own storage containers as well to save on the costs of reusable bags and go green as well.
For clothing, look for Mom to Mom sales for small kid clothing, suggested Miller. She also mentioned looking for weekly retail deals on her website at: http://savingslifestyle.com/ . The website also features a store-by-store comparison at: http://savingslifestyle.com/seasonal/back-to-school-price-comparison-list/
