WASHINGTON, D.C. (WDTN) - Parents with teething babies are being warned not to use over-the-counter gel products like Anbesol and Baby Orajel.

The FDA says those products contain benzocaine which has been linked to a rare condition which prevents blood from carrying oxygen to the cells.  It could even lead to death.

The FDA advises parents not to use the products on children under the age of two.
