KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - A Kettering woman says what she learned by watching 2 News helped her dodge a scam artist.

Carolyn Ratliff knew something was a little strange when a man called asking for her help.

He said he was giving away a quarter million dollars, and all she had to do was give him $50.00.

But, even more bizarre is where the man said he got the money.

"I said well, you're giving away, Donald Trump is giving away this money. What do we have to do in return? And he says all you have to do is $50.00 when an agent and federal marshal come to the door," Ratliff said.

Ratliff didn't fall for it.

Authorities say if you think you're the victim of a scam call the Ohio Attorney General's Office.
