ARCANUM, Ohio (WDTN) - A luxury car was crushed and the driver is flown to the hospital after a crash in Darke County.

It happened Wednesday evening on State Route 49 just south of Arcanum.

Deputies said the driver fell asleep at the wheel and veered into a ditch where he hit a tree.

After using the jaws of life to cut off the top of the car, rescue crews loaded the driver into an awaiting CareFlight helicopter.

He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with what are reported to be serious injuries.
