DAYTON, OH (WDTN) - Governor-Elect John Kasich was pretty clear about where he stands on the 3C Passenger Rail Plan during a press conference on Wednesday.
“That train is dead,” he said.
However, Maha Kashani, who lives in Dayton, said she wants to resurrect it.
“It would be great for the city and for all the young professionals here,” she said.
Ohio has received more than $400 million in federal stimulus money for the 3C Passenger Rail Plan.
The plan would connect Cincinatti, Columbus and Cleveland. Trains would also stop in Dayton, which Kashani said would be great for the city.
“It will encourage people to move to the city,” Kashani said.
According to Kasich, the 3C Passenger Rail is not “Ohio’s future.”
Kashani said she plans on driving to Columbus at some point to try and change Kasich's mind.
“I just want to find out where he is coming from.”
If she is successful, her next trip to Columbus might be on the 3C Passenger Rail.
