DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Sitting in the dining room of her home on Fernwood Avenue, Timberly Roberts, 24, remembers the moment her life came crashing down.

"The coroner showed up early on Monday and told me they had found my mom in an alley," said Roberts.

Neighborhood children found her mother, Kimberly Paradiso, 47, lying behind an abandoned house on Warder street Sunday afternoon. A neighbor, Anna Purks, called the police after she overheard them talking about it. Purks said Paradiso had blood near her eye, but the cause and manner of Paradiso's death has not been determined. Investigators at the Montgomery County Coroner's Office said a ruling won't be made until they have the results of a toxicology test.

Roberts said Paradiso had a son, too. The 15-year-old lives with her father in Vandalia, leaving Roberts to make funeral arrangements on her own, and much too soon.

"My heart's broken," Roberts said. "She was a wonderful person, she had a huge heart. She would give anyone anything that she could, and she just always wanted people to be happy."

Roberts said her mother was a free spirit, who had come upon hard times. She was living at a homeless shelter, but Roberts said she was working to get her own apartment, and to start a new stretch of life.

"She was finally starting to be happy again," said Roberts. "She wasn't perfect, but she tried to make things right and be a good person. She loved her family and we loved her, we still love her."

According to Roberts, Paradiso had friends in the area where she was found dead.

Dayton Police are looking for information in the case. If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers at 222-7867.
