Romney-Ryan rally supporters in Celina

CELINA, Ohio (WDTN) - The cold weather couldn't chill their spirits.

"It feels good to me," says Dawson Deshane, who was waiting to see presidential candidate Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan speak. "It's worth the effort."

Thousands of people lined up in Celina, some arriving more than four hours before Romney and Ryan were set to speak.

They filled their time reading copies of 'The Cat and the Mitt', a politicized version of 'The Cat in the Hat' handed out by someone at the rally.

But a more appropriate take on a Dr. Seuss book may have been 'One Fish, Two Fish, Red State, Blue State'.

Most political pundits agree the race for Ohio is a tight one and whoever wins it is likely to be president.

"I think it's sweet Ohio's a battleground state or otherwise we wouldn't be here doing this," says Austin Ebbing, who came dressed as Uncle Sam.

With the razor thin margins in polls in Ohio in mind, Romney made a pitch to the independent and undecided voters by talking about his record of working with the other side.

"I've got to make sure to reach across the aisle," Romney says. "I know there are good Democrats who love America as much as we do."

But Romney was sure to point out what he referred to as his differences with President Obama with a particular focus on the economy and the job market.

"I believe this is a critical time where real change is needed and the President believes we should just go along with the same," Romney says.

Romney and Ryan highlighted the importance of the election especially for future generations.

At one point Romney pointed out the kids in the audience on their parents' shoulders, including one dressed as Captain America.

"Captain, Paul Ryan and I are joining your team real soon," Romney says.

Romney and Ryan also spoke to a group filling the stands of the football stadium outside the Celina Fieldhouse.

Hanging over it all was a sense of urgency with decision day nearing.

All you had to do was look at the scoreboard in the fieldhouse, which had the date of the election on it and the period shown as the fourth and final one.

"I know they're chanting four more years, but we're chanting nine more days," Romney says referencing the time until Election Day.

During the rally some supporters held up signs saying 'Ohio Believes'.

But just what it is that this swing state exactly believes, we'll have to wait for Election Day to find out.

Romney and Ryan also made stops in Findlay and Marion.
