Englewood, OH (WDTN) - You've heard the message over and over "Lock your vehicle and don't leave any valuables inside"

For several people living near Eller and Albert Streets in Englewood, that painful message hit home early this morning.

"In this case we had two cars in the driveway, a car parked out on the street no forced entry things like credit cards and cash were taken some items were recovered down the road a little bit further." said Englewood Police Sergeant Mike Lang.

A total of five vehicles were broken into, several scratched-up and ransacked including Matt Wilson's Jeep.

"Dont leave any there, in case things happen maybe."

Police say it was probably somebody walking through the neighborhood and saw their chance to make a quick score.

Sergeant Lang says many times victims make it too easy for thieves. "You like to think at night you'd be awake enough to hear whats happening chances are pretty good it's not going to happen. So safeguard yourself take your valuables inside and lock your cars."
