NEW CARLISLE, Ohio (WDTN) - A prank call forced the lock-down of two Clark County schools Thursday morning.
Sheriff Gene Kelly said a man called 911 claiming he saw three men dressed in black walk into Park Layne Elementary school armed with assault rifles and a duffel bag.
The school was immediately placed on lock-down as a dozen deputies responded to the scene. School officials also locked-down nearby Medway Elementary.
The caller told dispatchers he saw two men walk into the front of the school and another who went in through a side door. Deputies searched the buildings inside and out and found nothing suspicious.
Deputies believe the call came from a man who was in a Speedway gas station across the street from the school.
If caught, the suspect will be charged with inducing panic.
