DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - An elderly Dayton woman thought she was complying with police when they came knocking on her door Thursday.
Turns out, she was letting two criminals inside her home.
Actual police officers say they were called to the 500 block of Smith Street on a theft complaint around 12:30 pm.
The woman, 86, told them two men flashed a badge at her front door and said they had a warrant to search her home. She reluctantly let them inside.
She said the men ransacked the place, stealing about $225.00 and a handgun.
A neighbor finally broke up the theft. He arrived to talk with his neighbor and that is when the suspects apparently had enough and left.
The victim says both men were well dressed in business suits. One was blue, the other had pin stripes.
Police say they left the scene in a blue/gray LeSabre.
