TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) - Trotwood police say they have a scammer locked up in jail.
Officers led William Donohoue into jail Tuesday night.
They believe he went door to door offering to do odd jobs for homeowners.
Police say he would take the cash up front, but never complete the work.
"We don't take kindly to people taking advantage of our citizens or our elderly citizens," said Detective Joseph McCreary, Trotwood Police Department.
Donohoue faces felony charges because all three victims are at least 66 years old.
Police say the best way to protect yourself is ask the person who approaches you for a business card or check them out first with the Better Business Bureau before handing over any cash.
