TROY, Ohio (WDTN) - Troy, Ohio detectives said its just a matter of time before their dragnet will catch a person they consider armed and dangerous.

"It's just a big game of cat and mouse more or less now," Sergeant Chris Anderson said.

Anderson is a tired but determined as he and a slew of officers look for 50-year-old Jeff Bedinger.

"The search is primarily being concentrated at the central Indiana area," Anderson said. "Its' not to say that we've given up on the Dayton area or any relatives or friends that he may have in this area."

Bedinger is accused of killing his 22-year-old stepson Brandon Haskins and kidnapping his seven year old son Zane Bedinger. Police believe an argument started the ugly chain of events.

"The young man may have possibly tried to intervene verbally and it appears there was a physical struggle between the stepfather and the victim and shots were fired at that point," said Sgt. Anderson.

On Friday, its quiet in Towne Park Apartments, but reminders of the shooting that happened on Thursday remain. Crime tape could be seen hanging out of a dumpster. However, resident Kim Hayes said she's still scared.

"He could come back any moment and do it again."

Hayes said she's worried at the possibility of Bedinger making his way back to Troy. She keeps her fingers crossed that police catch him soon.

"I just hope that someone does find him that they do turn him in and gets locked up," she said.

Sergeant Anderson said he can't make that happen fast enough.

"Oh I'm fairly optimistic we're going to locate this gentleman if not today, tomorrow. We got some really solid leads and the agencies that are assisting us are doing a marvelous job."

Once caught, Bedinger will face a laundry list of charges including aggravated murder, kidnapping and abduction.
