GREENVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) - A Greenville man admits that he tried to kill his former girlfriend and is now headed to prison.
Jamal Gray stabbed the woman inside her residence on April 19, 2012.
He had just been released from jail following a charge of domestic violence on the very day of the stabbing.
Gray apologized in court, but the victim's mother was not satisfied.
"I welcomed you to my home, gave you my food and then to think that you'd sink so low to let yourself get so low and so vindictive to take the life of my daughter and the life of my grandchildren. Your apologies won't be accepted for that, but thank God you didn't take her life. Yes, you'll receive a sentence here, but the sentence you receive will not amount to the sentence you'll receive for the rest of your life.
Gray was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
