KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - A 21-year-old Trotwood man was arrested Friday evening on a robbery charge in connection with an attempted robbery at a Shell station on Dorothy Lane in Kettering.
Kettering Police announced Monday that the Montgomery County prosecutor’s office approved a robbery charge against Matthew Townsend.
Police say Townsend entered the gas station at 3151 E. Dorothy Lane and demaded money from the clerk. When the clerk refused to hand over any money, police say Townsend then asked for the restroom key. While Townsend was in the restroom, the clerk told her manager who called police. Townsend returned the key and was arrested a short time later.
Townsend was being held in the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.
