Family pleads help finding killer

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A Dayton family became concerned last month when they discovered newspapers piling up outside the home of their elderly father.

When they went inside, they made the worst possible discovery.

"Whoever did this had to know him."

On February 20th, Kellery Beason found his 95-year-old father shot to death in his home on Hochwalt Avenue.

Oscar Beason was an army veteran and a husband of 51 years with no known enemies.  The family can't imagine who would've done this.

"It was a cowardly act the way they did it. They befriended him because he trusted them enough to let them in his home," said Kellery Beason, victim's son.

Kellery says they found his father's wallet with $300 still inside, so it doesn't appear robbery was the motive.  To them, it just doesn't add up and the family is desperate for answers.

"95 years on this earth and my dad has never hurt anyone.  This is heinous.  It is cowardly.  This should not and hopefully will not, and I pray that it will not, go unpunished."

Detectives don't have a lot of information about this case,  so they are asking for the public's assistance.

If anyone out there has any information about this, call Crime Stoppers at 222-7867.  That number is 222-STOP.
