DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Sometime overnight on Friday January 27, someone broke into a home in the DeWeese neighborhood in Dayton and proceeded to steal the resident's wallet, purse and other personal items.

The burglar made entry by prying open a window at the rear of the home.

The occupants of the home were asleep in their beds when this happened and never heard a thing.

The suspect then walked to a nearby ATM at 4600 North Dixie and that may have been his undoing because he was captured there on surveillance.

He attempted to get money with the stolen debit cards, but was unsuccessful.

The contents of the wallet were later found nearby.

"He appears to be a white male who's 35 to 45.  He was wearing a very distinctive plaid flannel  coat, light gray and black in color with sheepskin lining.  He had a light colored baseball cap and jeans, camo gloves and a thick goatee and mustache," said Det. Cayce Cantrell, Dayton Police Department.

If anyone recognizes this person call Crime Stoppers at 222-7867.
