LEBANON, Ohio (WDTN) - Accusations of false promises land a man behind bars in Lebanon.
Lebanon police say Michael Carswell, 35, of Morrow, was arrested on a charge of theft by deception.
Investigators say Carswell agreed to replace the roof on the house of a 71-year old resident in July 2011 for $5,000. He promised that the work would be complete in two to three weeks.
The homeowner said Carswell returned to the home several times asking for more money, but never finished the job. 14 months later, the roof is not replaced and the homeowner is out $80,000. Carswell was arrested and is in the Warren County Jail.
Police fear that more victims may be out there, but are afraid to come forward. If you think you are a victim, call Detective Robb White of the Lebanon Police Department at 513-228-3323.
