Dayton (WDTN) - In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 8th a sleeping resident was awakened by the sound of someone breaking into her home in the 1100 block of West Fairview Avenue in Dayton. The woman confronted the burglar, who began to beat her with a hammer. They struggled, and she managed to get the hammer away from him, but he did not leave empty handed.
According to Det. Cayce Cantrell, "The suspect did flee with some of her personal belongings which included her bank cards and personal information which the suspect then used at the Walgreens at the corner of Salem and Philadelphia where he attempted to get money out of the ATM machine."
And surveillance video from that Walgreens gives us a look at the burglar... described as a tall and slender black male, wearing a black hooded jacket with a red shirt underneath, and dark colored jeans.
