SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - You may have seen emergency crews out in full force in Clark County Saturday, not to worry though. Thankfully it was just a drill.

It was the county's annual preparedness exercise. This years scenario, a plane crash with a jet-fuel spill near Clark State Community college.

Police, fire, and haz-mat crews were on hand to practice their response. Officials say this training could someday help prevent a real disaster.

Public Information Officer Diane VanAuker said, "If this were to really happen, plans and practice already being in place would enable us to respond much more efficiently and effectively. The time to learn how to communicate with your fellow responders is not at the disaster, it's well before the disaster."

Officials will continue to hold smaller training events throughout the year.
