DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Ohio tax payers have cash to claim from the Internal Revenue Service, all they have to do is file a return. The IRS said it owes 44,600 Ohioans money from 2006.
The government allows tax payers three years to file a return, so the deadline to claim the money from that year is coming up on April 15, 2010.
Many people didn't file a return because they didn't have enough income, even though they they had taxes withheld from their wages. Those tax payers might not have known that there were credits for which they may have qualified.
There is no penalty for late returns qualifying for a refund. For free filing assistance, go to a location listed here .
