BUTLER TOWNSHIP (WDTN) - The Butler Township Fire Chief, Bob Weiffenbach, is on administrative leave.
The leave comes as the Township Board and Weiffenbach negotiate a "mutually agreeable separation agreement."
The embattled fire chief has come under fire of late as courts ruled two fired employees must be returned to work. In a statement the board sais, "In light of several recent court rulings in matters pertaining to an investigation into personnel activities at the fire department in 2008, it is the Board's unanimous agreement to take the fire department in a new direction with new leadership."
Assistant Fire Chief Steve Stein was named Acting Fire Chief and the board members say they will move quickly to find a new Fire Chief.
