CASSTOWN, Ohio (WDTN) - A deputy at the scene said it could have been a lot worse when a pickup truck ran into the back of a school bus that had stopped to pick up children.
The Miami East school bus was half-full when it was hit on Mill Road in Casstown in Miami County.
The bus was stopped at a house and was picking up a child when it was rear-ended.
Deputy Eric Harnish said he's not sure if the sun made it difficult for the driver to see the bus in front of him.
"It very well could've been a lot worse had the impact been somewhere else on truck," said Deputy Eric Harnish. "There were two individuals inside truck that could've been severely injured.
Deputy Harnish said the driver was not hurt and the child was taken from the scene by her parents after getting checked out by medics.
Authorities plan to cite the driver was failing to keep an assured clear distance.
