DAYTON, OH (WDTN-WBDT) - Post Master Karen Garber, representatives from The Foodbank and The National Association of Letter Carriers will gathered to kick off the largest single-day food drive in the nation.
In its 20 th year, the Stamp Out Hunger food drive will take place on Saturday, May 12.
Last year letter carriers across the country collected more than 70 million pounds of food.
The Foodbank received over 75,000 pounds of food to donate to the hungry in Montgomery, Greene, and Preble counties.
A recent study released by Feeding America found 132,200 food-insecure individuals in The Foodbank’s service area of Montgomery, Greene and Preble counties.
The Stamp Out Hunger food drive is an essential event that will help meet the demand for food for families across the Miami Valley.
So Saturday, place non perishable food items in plastic bags near your front door and the letter carriers will do the rest.
