Dayton, Ohio (WDTN) - The Ohio Players take the stage at the Downtown Dayton Revival Music Festival which is a homecoming of sorts for drummer and vocalist James 'Diamond' Williams because he never left Dayton and the Miami Valley.
Diamond says it's great to be playing in front of the hometown crowd and extra special that after the performance, he can sleep in his own bed.
The long time member of the Ohio Players has always called the Gem City home.
He raised his family here and is now a grandpa.
And he apologizes ahead of time if the lines been used before, but Mr. Williams says, as far as playing here in Dayton, 'there's no place like home.'
The group will bring it's original 'Dayton Funk Sound' back to where it all started Sunday evening as they play the inaugural concert..
Watch Jim Bucher's unedited interview with 'Diamond' for more interesting tidbits and insights.
