Dayton, Ohio (WDTN) - The cream of the homegrown indie rock scene will be on display when the eighth annual Dayton Music Fest returns to town on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5 and 6, with 34 acts performing in eight different venues.
The price is still only $10, which gives access to shows at Canal Street Tavern, Omega Music, Blind Bob's, Trolley Stop, South Park Tavern, Tumbleweed Connection and Oregon Express.
Also announced is a reunion show by Captain of Industry, one of the best and most popular local bands of the 2000s and
First time appearances by Ruckus Roboticus, Robthebank, featuring ex-Guided By Voices guitarist Nate Farley, Southeast Engine, Stillwater River Band and Good English, sets from new bands like Goodbye, Tim Pritchard & the Box Car Suite, Amnesia and Feathered Serpent as well as returning local favorites Vanity Theft, Motel Beds, Astro Fang, Jasper the Colossal and Shrug.
Music begins at 5 p.m. Friday when Goodbye kicks off the two-day event with a free all ages show at Omega Music in the Oregon District.
For the first time, DMF is teaming up this year with Midwest Outdoor Experience, formerly Gearfest, which takes place Saturday and will offer daytime performances by various groups.
DMF gets into full swing Saturday at South Park Tavern at 5pm with sets from Al Holbrook, City of Kings and Sleep Fleet.
From there the festivities move to the four DMF sites in the Oregon District, Oregon Express, Blind Bob's, Tumbleweed Connection and Trolley Stop, along with Canal Street Tavern.
Dayton Music Fest was founded in 2005 by Dan Clayton, Shawn Johnson and Andy Ingram.
