DAYTON, OHIO (WDTN) - Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s solution to save women’s lives. Too many women die each year because they are unaware that heart disease is their No. 1 killer. One in three women suffers in silence, and almost one woman dies every minute of this largely preventable disease.

On Friday, Feb. 5, show your support of Go Red For Women, a nationwide movement that celebrates the energy, passion and power women have to band together and wipe out heart disease! Wear red to work, make a donation to the campaign, and learn how to love your heart by preventing heart disease. More than 10,000 companies participate in Wear Red Day, and many cities across the nation illuminate monuments, landmarks and major buildings in red to show their support in the fight against heart disease.

Some companies and buildings in Dayton and our surrounding communities supporting Go Red For Women and Wear Red Day are CareSource, which will light its building red throughout the month of February and The Greene Town Center, which is “going red” in February and sponsoring a 2 mile walk/run to support the campaign.

One of the many companies Speaking Up to support Go Red For Women this February is Jiffy Lube. For the third consecutive year, Jiffy Lube is rolling out its Maintenance Partners for Life program to help raise funds and awareness for heart disease prevention. From February 1 through March 14, 2010, Jiffy Lube customers who make a $3 donation to Go Red will receive the Maintenance Partners for Life book and will contribute to Jiffy Lube’s goal of raising $1 million for the cause with this year’s program. Go Red for Women media sponsors are WDTN Channel 2 and 99.9 LITE FM.
