DAYTON, OHIO (WDTN) - The 2010 edition of the Crown Jewels™ of Dayton calendar debuts October 29, 2009 and will once again benefit the Kettering Medical Center Foundation Women’s Wellness Fund. This fourth edition not only celebrates women and their love of hats, but will “Celebrate the Arts” by showcasing the region’s BEST arts and cultural amenities, artists and arts organizations.

The 2010 Crown Jewels™ of Dayton 12-month calendar features elected officials, business executives, community volunteers and breast cancer survivors. The community models not only wears exquisite hats, but the calendar also offers information on breast health and breast cancer resources. This year, the photos were taken with different arts partners from throughout the region.

All proceeds of the calendar will once again be donated to the Kettering Medical Center Foundation’s Women’s Wellness Fund. This fund, established in 1995, provides much needed mammography, diagnostic services and prosthetic apparel to underserved and under- insured women in our community. Now more than ever, women are in need of quality health care they can afford. Nearly $70,000 has been raised thus far from the Crown Jewels™ of Dayton initiative.

The calendar is the result of a dream by calendar founder and creator, Sharon D. Howard, Executive Director of Community & Public Relations with WDTN-TV. “I never thought a dream like this would become a reality,” said Howard. “To get the support given to this project is a blessing and an even bigger blessing is that we are able to contribute more dollars to the Women’s Wellness Fund.”

All elements of the Crown Jewels™ of Dayton calendar have again been donated thanks to the generosity of area talented individuals and companies. All photographs were taken by well-known regional photographer Andy Snow. The printing of the calendar is again donated by Progressive Printers. Other partners include Designed Solutions Group, NewPage Corporation and the Dayton Power & Light Company.

The Crown Jewels™ of Dayton calendar will retail for $10.00 and can be purchased at books&co in Town & Country Shopping Center in Kettering and at the books&co store at The Greene Towne Center. It will also be available in the gift shops at Kettering Medical Center, Kettering Medical Center-Sycamore, Southview Hospital, Grandview Hospital, and at the Kettering Breast Evaluation Centers, as well as, at WDTN-TV.
