Dayton, Ohio (WDTN) - What is a Festiki? It's a HUGE beach party with all things surf related. Music, food and adult beverages are on tap at the event Saturday August 15, noon to 11pm. You'll think you're in Hawaii on the beach with Hula dancing, a Tiki carving demonstration and more.

Most importantly the Surf Ohio group who puts this on is very pro-environment.

The purpose is to promote and tangibly support the sustainability of our worlds beaches and coastlines the very environment responsible for SURF OHIOs existence in the first place. If we cannot sustain the beach, it means that we are doomed to follow its demise. There is something inherent in human nature and DNA that draws us back to the water. If the water be it ocean, river, rain or drinking water is fouled, then so are we. If the beach is not healthy, than neither are we. Its a simple matter of balance. In my maturity, if I may prophesize as an old guy for a moment, I realize that no good can come from imbalance.

$1 of each 2008 SURF OHIO t-shirt and hat sale through www.surfohio.com to the Surfrider Foundation, as well. But I would encourage you and everyone to give generously, to pay forward, as it were, if not to the Surfrider organization than to any of the several other fine non-profit organizations with a demonstrated effectiveness in protecting our the world rivers, waterways and coastal areas.
