DAYTON, OH (WDTN) - The 158th edition of The Montgomery County Fair, where you'll 'see more smiles' is officially open for business. The Fair is expected to attract 80,000 patrons.
Nearly $200,000 in improvements have been made to the fairgrounds at 1043 S. Main St. during three years.
Back again this year as a judge in the pie baking contest was our own Jim Bucher. 20 freshly baked pecan pies were taste tested by fair manager Don Michael and Montgomery County Commissioner Dan Foley.
2 News attempted to get a quote from the judges, but their mouths were full.
Also, 600 farm families will participate in the Montgomery County Fair this year. Attendance has grown with a 2 percent increase in 2009 over 2008 figures.
New this year is a focus on education with interactive science exhibits. It will include Center of Science and Industry exhibits featuring a life-sized, fiberglass Daisy the Cow that kids can milk as well as stations on Newton’s Laws of Motion and space technology.
The fair also features 26 rides along with 150 food and commercial vendors. For more visit, www.MontCoFair.com
