DAYTON, OH (WDTN-WBDT) - The 10th Annual TechFest will be held this Saturday and Sunday at Sinclair Community College with Former Governor Robert Taft providing the opening remarks.
The Affiliate Societies Council in partnership with Sinclair Community College will be sponsoring the two day event. Dan Edwards will be hosting the opening ceremonies.
The U.S.A. is lagging behind the rest of the world in high school scores in science and math and the number of students entering school to study science and engineering.
The number of graduates qualified to work in the fields that depend upon science, technology, engineering and math skills is dropping.
TechFest addresses the very first phase of workforce development—cultivating an interest.
Participants can experience over seventy interactive science and technology demonstrations, exhibits, and games. All are provided by Dayton/Miami Valley professional societies, universities, industry, and the Air Force.
This is a free, educational family event, and children of all ages are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
The program will feature hands-on interactive exhibits demonstrated by practicingscientist and engineers.
The topics include biology, life sciences, chemistry, physics, aviation, electricity, weather, space, computer technology, simulation and games, optics, math, civil engineering and safety.
