DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - One Miami Valley metropark is encouraging you to use a little peddle power this Friday on your way to work. On Friday May 20th, the Riverscape Metropark and bike hub is hosting a bike to work event and a free pancake breakfast from 6 to 9:30am.
The Metroparks are encouraging everyone to fill their bike tires and peddle their way to work instead of driving. Alternative travel options like using paved recreation trails instead of city streets can still get you to your destination.
There are several great reasons why everyone should use two wheels instead of four.
Tom Helbig special events coordinator Five Rivers MetroParks says, "It promotes an active healthy life style it can reduce our carbon and enhance our environment."
Dan Sahli, outdoor recreation coordinator with the Five Rivers MetroParks, "Picking a good route that you can bike to your car route probably isn't the best route to ride your bike to work."
The weather is going to clear up just in time for Friday. We'll see some sunshine and rising temperatures so you won't need to grab your rain gear for the event.
