DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Dayton Better Business Bureau President and CEO John North offered tips to 2 News Today to find help when pests invade a home.
As the temperatures have risen, some people have seen an increase in pests migrating into their homes.
North gave the following advice:
Get several quotes. Don't settle for the lowest bid. It may not be the highest quality service.
Be wary of anyone going door-to-door.
Ask the exterminator to do an inspection. A fee may be required, but they'll be able to give you a written diagnosis.
Review the contract carefully before signing.
Check if the company is licensed and insured.
Verify if the work is guaranteed and ask what it covers.
Inquire about follow up.
Find out if contractor belongs to any professional pest control associations.
Inquire about safety and risks of pesticides. Some can be dangerous to touch or inhale. Let the pest control company know about pets or children in the home.
Ask family and friends to recommend an exterminator. If they're pleased with them, you'll likely be too.
The Better Business Bureau provides lists of BBB Accredited Businesses in different industries and business reviews on specific companies homeowners are considering. More information can be found at http://www.dayton.bbb.org
