Alert teller catches phony check scam

OAKWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) - Oakwood police are searching for a woman trying to cash phony checks.

The woman tried to cash a payroll check at Liberty Savings Bank.

The teller noticed a misspelling, called the company and found out it was a fake.

The woman did get away with the scheme at a Harrison Township bank earlier that day.

Police say the woman is in her 20's and she drove away in a black Cadillac SUV.
