KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - A Kettering five year old got the surprise of her life Friday when her dad showed up at her school, all the way from Iraq.

The end of the school day at Ascension School in Kettering held a big shock for Jillian Sharp. Her dad showed up to surprise her.

Master Sergeant Phillip Sharp wasn't due home from Iraq until the evening, at least that's what little Jillian thought.

"Did Daddy surprise you? I misted you. I missed you too."

Mom Amy and the school plotted a very special homecoming, one guaranteed to bring tears to the eyes of everyone in earshot.

"I love you big girl. Daddy I'm five now. I know, you're five now."

After the emotional reunion, Jillian got to help dad hand out medals to the winners of the American Heart Association Hoops for Hearts basketball tournament.

And while it may have been the surprise of a life time for little Jillian, 13 year old brother Brendan, was too old to be fooled.

"I wasn't really surprised I kinda knew when they called me down from the band hall," said Brendan.

The whole family is happy to have Master Sergeant Sharp home, "This much happy."

After the last six months in Iraq, Dad is looking forward to time catching up with his family, "In fact, it's family pizza night, so how can it be any better."
