ENON, Ohio (WDTN) - Four Greenon high school students are in a sticky situation with the law after a senior prank adds up to thousands of dollars in damages.
Investigators said the students poured industrial strength "Gorilla Glue" into 47 locks in and outside the building.
The prank could have locked everyone out of the building if the glue had enough time to set in.
"It's a tan like substance. It foams up when you apply it. It's really strong stuff," explained Clark County Sherriff's Sergeant Chris Clark.
School officials had to replace every lock that was damaged.
"It's a very expensive prank. They estimate the damage to each lock to be about $200. The first time they lost 11 locks, the second time 36 locks," said Sgt. Clark.
School officials said preliminary damage estimates are about $9,400.
Investigators busted the students after some of them started bragging about what they had done.
"A simple prank turns into a lot of major problems for everybody else," said Clark.
The students are charged with vandalism and breaking and entering.
School officials say all have been suspended and may even be expelled. An expulsion hearing will take place in coming weeks.
