DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Customers of Dayton Power and Light Co. won't see increases in their base rates for electricity in 2011 and 2012 under a proposed agreement presented to Ohio utility regulators.
Rate increases of about 6.5 percent for this year and 3 percent for 2010 are already built into DP&L's existing, state-approved rate plan and are not changed by the proposed agreement.
The new agreement was reached between DP&L and consumer organizations, environmental groups, the Ohio Consumers' Counsel and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
DP&L says costs of fuel price increases, storm-damage responses, climate-change laws or transmission system improvements could be passed along to consumers with PUCO approval.
DP&L serves about 515,000 residential and business customers.
