XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - A Xenia High school counselor and coach, facing charges for "inappropriate sexual activity" with a female student, faced a judge Friday morning.

Brenda Osborne, 42, was arraigned on three counts of sexual battery in Xenia Municipal Court.

Police said the incidents happened off school grounds with the 17-year-old between July 1 and September 2.

Xenia superintendent Dr. Jeff Lewis said he thinks this is an isolated incident, but one he's taking very seriously.

"When something like this happens it's a black eye for all of us and that's what really upsets me because ee should be focusing on the 375 teachers who do great work day in and day out," he said.

Osborne, who could face up to 15 years in prison, posted a $7,500 bond shortly after she was arrested Thursday. She is on paid administrative leave.

Police said they are not aware of any other victims.
