DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A Dayton man, convicted of murder will spend the rest of his life in jail.

Rodney Young was sentenced to 18 years to life for killing 21-year-old David Watson, and an additional 71 years for shooting five other people inside the Higgins Station bar last December.

"Mr. Young, you do have a history of violence. You have a history of impulsive behavior and the seriousness of this case is grave," said Montgomery County Judge Mary Wiseman as she handed down the sentence. "An individual was murdered in the prime of his life and others were injured, and it's just by the grace of God that more folks were not injured in this incident."

Witnesses said that Young was kicked out of the club for fighting, then came back in firing a gun.

U.S. Marshals tracked Young down in a hotel room in Kentucky and brought him back to Dayton to face charges of murder and felonious assault.

Young's mother said she plans to appeal his conviction and sentencing.
