DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Tech Town's population is one, but according to planners, it's
the beginning of good things to come.
Area civic and business leaders, as well as Governor Ted
Strickland, cut the ribbon on the Creative Technology Center Monday
morning.
The Center is the first building at Tech Town, the project to bring cutting edge industries and jobs to Dayton.
Tech Town is located at the site of the old Frigidaire plant on
Momument Avenue. And everyone was struck by the sight of the brand
new building sitting in the shadow of an older building being torn
down.
Already, that new building is fully leased by companies I-D
Cast, Weston Solutions, and the RFID Convergence Center.
Strickland said projects like Tech Town are the future of not only Dayton, but Ohio.
"It's a lesson in what's happening in our economy," he said.
"Our economy is evolving and changing and if we don't respond to
that economy we'll be left behind."
A belief echoed by Dayton's mayor.
"It was just a strong will and a vision to get this done, And I'm looking forward to us returning soon to see the second building," said Rhine McLin.
The second building is set to be finished in about a year.
