INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - State health officials say Indiana has 12 more confirmed case of swine flu, bringing the state's total to 15.
The new cases are spread across the state, with five new cases in Marion County, two in Lake County, and one each in Hendricks, Porter, Putnam, St. Joseph and Tippecanoe counties.
Before Tuesday's announcement, Indiana already had three cases -- two in Marion County and one in St. Joseph County.
State Health Commissioner Dr. Judy Monroe say the state's labs were able to start confirming cases this week with testing kits provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
She says that the swine flu virus has been causing illnesses similar to that of seasonal influenza.
