SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - A 79-year-old Clark County man who was beaten and robbed was set up by his own granddaughter according to Clark County Sherriff Gene Kelly.

Two juveniles and one adult, 18-year-old Tyler Scott Tingley, are facing charges after Kelly said the victim's granddaughter invited two friends to stay at her grandfather's Northridge home. Kelly said that's when they decided to rob the man.

Kelly said on June 22, 2009, the suspects beat the victim, took $27 from his wallet, then stole his car The victim's leg was was broken in the process.

"They knew his age his physical abilities, yet they attacked him in his own home and then were off taking the fruits of this crime," said Kelly.

Tingley was arraigned Aug. 19 on charges of felonious assault and aggravated robbery.

Kelly said the victim refused to cooperate with the investigation and that is why it has taken them almost two months to file charges.
