DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - At a news conference held Friday afternoon, Dayton police said
they're taking down local gangs, one member at a time.
The latest were two men arrested Thursday night, bringing a
two week total to 16 people behind bars.
Dayton police chief Richard Biehl said they're targeting people who use guns to commit crimes, and they're hitting everyone from murderer suspects to new teen gangsters. They've arrested members from nine different gangs, and three juveniles.
Police said the arrest of murder suspect D'Alcapone Alpaccino Morris last week, and this week's arrest murder suspect William Blair are the kinds of steps they need to be making to make the streets safer.
"The safe streets task force has taken off the Diamond Cut gang, the Dope Boy Mafia gang," said Montgomery Co. Sheriff Phil Plummer. "When you take off powerful gangs like that, things slow down for us."
Police are looking for another three people they said are part of gang violence in the area, 35-year-old Sean Reed, 20-year-old Storm Smith, and 35-year-old Torey Carter.
All three are wanted on drugs and weapons charges.
If you can help police track them down, call Crime Stoppers at 222-STOP.
