PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) - Despite the sluggish economy, one Miami County community is doing better than ever.

Last year, Piqua did more construction than it had in a decade, and more development is on the way.

New projects are planned for the next few years, including private business expansions, Piqua schools will have three new buildings. The city is also working on its new Power Public Service Center, water treatment improvements and the reconstruction of East Ash Street.

Piqua City Manager Gary Huff estimated the construction projects would exceed $100 million dollars.

"It's key to the economy locally," said Huff. "But, from a regional standpoint, because of the more construction, it improves our economy throughout the entire region".
